The WNMU women's basketball team could not battle under the basket Thursday night. Adams State College outscored the Mustangs in the paint, 40-10, and outrebounded the purple and gold, 43-24. Adams Stated ended the Mustangs' three-game winning streak after an 81-55 score. The Mustangs' record falls to 5-11 overall and 3-5 in RMAC play.

Audra Major (Socorro, NM/Socorro High School) (Socorro, NM) got the WNMU scoring started with a jumper just 14 seconds into the game, but Major did not touch the ball much after that. She was limited to just three field goal attempts and two free throws the entire game, good for six points.

Ashley Vigil (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia High School) (Albuquerque, NM) was able to pick up the slack and knocked in 14 points in the first half, but the Mustangs still found themselves down 47-22 by intermission.

WNMU could not close the gap in the second half as the Grizzlies continued to hammer the boards.

Vigil finished with a team-high 17 points. Freshman Shatwa Morris (Las Cruces, NM/Mayfield High School) (Las Cruces, NM) continued to make strides on the court. She posted 12 points and a team-high five rebounds in just 17 minutes.
